Assuming that he's correct and AI will continue to be built up, there's some costs involved that aren't usually mentioned
TL;DR Energy cost is HIGH which costs lots and lots of money which means there will be a consolidation of huge data centers (again, assuming it'll be useful and make money for those who have access to the best AI). Which means (surprise! who would have thought?) the rich get richer--the wealth divide gets larger as those who can afford the money-making BEST AI get further and further ahead.
I might be the only person in the room who thinks that AI can and does help you be more productive at work. The problem is that people do not seem to understand the technology, so they over-expect and may get disappointed. At a conference last week, someone described AI as a smart six-year-old. I told him "smart 6-year-old" wasn't necessarily a bad thing if you understood its limits and gave it tasks within its capability.
"Is his (Nadella's) job on the line? If not ... why not?"
While I've expressed my opinion that LexisAI has been a goo enhancement to my research practice, and often prepares "legal clerk quality" memos, I feel that general AI, the "it can already help you be more productive at work" kind, is a vast overstatement bordering on PT Barnum stature.
