So, yesterday I visited a brand new EdyOn, a Japanese electronics chainstore that have just opened a super box (is that the right expression?) with all the latest greatest shining new computers and peripherals. I was so excited going over there, and so disappointed when leaving. Felt nothing when looking at all the new stuff. Thinking “that is a lot of plastic” and “why are there so few ports”. After a while I discovered that I was looking at rice cookers because they were more exciting and had more new features to offer.
I am definitely getting old.
Of all the US stores, I miss Frys the most. My favorite one was the one near Phoenix, where there were shelves stock full of maker type components and gadgets.
This is why I've gotten into watching YouTube videos about all of the latest devices from GPD, Ayaneo, and the like. Really cool new devices coming from these manufacturers. Mostly stuff for gamers, but neat nonetheless!
I used to enjoy visiting Yodobashi Camera but not anymore. It's become as uninteresting as anything you can think of.
Older, but also WISER than most, because that is an honest observation. I felt the same way walking through the Best Buy PC section the other day - even the new Copilot PC's are just more of the same silver, gray, or black plastic/metal slabs - row after row...
Most of us here are! Maybe it's time for a Kitchen Appliances section on here. :)
