I watched Kit Betts-Masters' video last night and didn't even make it to the end because it just doesn't look good. Out of the box the all black screen was more like dark blue and there's a lot of yellow ghosting. Looks like the Gallery color technology has a lot of drawbacks of its own.
Good video. If I was in the market they would have lost me at the point he puts the pen on the side of the device to charge and he remarks that it's not Wacom EMR like previous models, something to do with compatibility with the Gallery color e-ink layer.
Here's a really useful Reddit post comparing the new Pro to a laser printout with and without the front light on.
The front light in this kind of lighting doesn't make as much difference as one would think, IMO. Note that for each image in the series the first is without and the second with the frontlight
I love that they got the technology for color eInk better. I wish Remarkable went with Android instead of custom Linux. They'd need to jam more RAM in there, but I just need the apps I need, and any custom OS isn't going to have it.
Starting at $579. Gulp. But: 11.8" color e-ink, that itself is very attractive. Finally a way to mark up full-size letter format PDFs. Even allows GDrive, Dropbox, and OneDrive sync. Awesome! Weight 525g/1.16lbs. Features and specs here, promo video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvtQ3yI5SJc
Oh, right, letter size is 13.9 diagonal. Still, reasonably close. My Sony DPT-RP1 is 133" diagonal, so that's closer. No color though, and no OneDrive file sync.
Here's another one comparing the version 2 to the Pro, for those thinking of upgrading.

£729 with the pro pen and a folio. Haha, no.
Oh, and it seems still no microSD card slot, nor direct storage access. Get lost ReMarkable.
Well, what do you know? The thing they said would never happen has happened.
The screen is so much darker with the color versions that they really do have to have one though.
